Black People, this should be our response to the world's hatred of us

It is hard to deny that anti-black racism is at a height not seen since the pre-civil rights movement. America has always led the world in modelling this reproach to people of African descent, and the world has historically taken their cues from America, either through the news stories or through the stereotypes of black people portrayed in Hollywood movies.

Ever since Donald Trump came into the political scene, however, this hate has entered into hyperdrive. It looks like open season against black people. People of all other races have become bolder and more overt in their anti-blackness. No longer do they hide under hoods or digital anonymity to make anti-black racist content. They are out and proud showing their faces as they spew racists sentiments and content.

My black people, we are on our own. There is no POC solidarity. We are on our own...

With that realization, I want to give some tips on how we must act accordingly to protect ourselves and preserve our joy and purpose.

Why do they hate us?

First understand the motive and purpose of the attacks.

We are indeed God's prototype for humans. The Jews of the Bible looked like us, and we are a special and blessed people. No matter the adversities we have faced as a race, we prevail, and thrive. Even under the most inhospitable places and conditions, we have built culture that is envied and is copied by the same people who hate us. We are creators of culture, music and artforms that marvel and perplex them. We are blessed with physical attributes that they crave and yet despise us for having. They hate what we can achieve when we are put in a level playing field. They hate that they cannot compete with us, and seek to compromise us, and spread lies and disinformation about us, to keep us in a place of disadvantage.

They demean us and try to belittle us, but yet we rise! Like the sun, we rise, and our light keeps shining bright. And although they may copy our culture and our music, they cannot replicate the true essence and soul of it. They hate us, but yet cannot live without us.

So, what do we do?

I have some suggestions to help us continue to thrive in a world that does seeks to erase our very existence.

Firstly, let us build more safe online communities for us and by us. We can no longer pretend that multiculturalism is the be all and end all. One good example is "Black Twitter", where we come together even on a social network to share our interest, band together and push the black agenda forward.

Secondly, we need to stop giving the racists the clout they crave so constantly. Let's focus on pushing positive content about black people on our own individual channels and social platforms, because the media will not do it for us.

Thirdly, let us vote with our money. Any country or group of people that attack our race, let us commit to not sponsor their products or services. That includes boycotting Italian products and stores based on the rabid anti-blackness currently prevailing in Italy, and the neighborhood stores run by racist Asians. Let us instead prioritize black owned everything, even it means spending a bit more, or travelling a little further. Let us start a boycott or cancel culture for all things associated with racists.

Lastly, let us stop seeking validation from people that despise us. Hold your head high, preserve your joy, and ignore the people and the situations that act as energy vampires. Walk away from racists, and disempower them by ignoring their existence, especially when they do things to garner a response from us. Let us counter all the negativity about us with positive stories and with kindness to each other.
